The National Designated Authority (NDA) was privileged to host Anna Merrifield from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Finland where she serves as Director Climate Change and Environmental Diplomacy.
NDA lead by the National Coordinator Billy Katontoka shared some of the success stories from communities following the implementation of the Strengthening Climate Resilience of Agricultural livelihoods in Agro-ecological Regions l and ll project ( SCRALA) which was aimed at buiding resilience among communities preparing them to adapt to the impacts of Climate Change and also providing alternative livelihood sources amidst adverse Climate Change effects. This project was implemented in 16 districts across the country supporting improved agricultural practices, diversification and access to markets.
Anna who is also Board member for the Green Climate Fund (GCF) was also briefed on some projects that are in the pipeline for Zambia.
Critical to this meeting was also highlighting some of the challenges that the country faces accessing funding and the protracted processes that GCF has in place.
NDA Zambia looks forward to more conversations around Climate financing and ensuring communities adapt to the impacts of Climate Change.
